One of the problems with cancer of the prostate is that there are often few signs and symptoms associated with early prostate cancer. Studies on early detection and cure rates are inconclusive on whether screening and treatment reduces death rates from this disease. The medical fraternity do however believe that screening is important.
Some of the following signs and symptoms common to prostate cancer are also experienced with many non cancerous diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia. If you do have any of them it is important that you seek medical follow-up for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. In general the earlier that you seek treatment the better your prognosis.
