Definition:
SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Assumed
virus, causing severe breathing problems. Signs and symptoms are similar to flu
at the outset but progressing to pneumonia-like symptoms. The mode of
transmission is not yet fully understood but it is assumed to be via droplet
infection. Whilst most people recover, the lack of any treatment option has
resulted in mortalities mainly in Hong Kong and China, but moving into Canada,
the USA and parts of Europe.
