Drink Reduces Heart Attack Risk in Men with High Blood Pressure

Men with hypertension (high blood pressure) reduce their risk of heart attack if they have one or two alcoholic drinks a day. That's according to research from Joline Beulens and his team at the Harvard School of Public Health. Too small an intake makes no difference, more than three drinks a day raises blood pressure, but one or two shots of liquor, wine or beer a day, seems to be what the doctor should order.Alcohol Affects Men's Health

11,711 male healthcare professionals took part in the study reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine. It indicates that current advice to men with high blood pressure not to drink should be evaluated. This is yet another study to show that moderate consumption of alcohol can be beneficial to men's health.
