It seems to me that there are three types of shave. First, the professional shave, which involves hot towels, a comfy seat, patting of cheeks, use of oils and unctions and absolute faith in the skill of the person holding the razor. This is probably the ultimate shave - more an experience than just a shave - but something most men will not encounter.
Then we have the everyday shave which involves the bleary-eyed morning ritual that most men are all too familiar with. It is functional, effective but nothing very special.
Between these extremes, but coming closer to the professional shave, is the special shave. The special shave is all to do with preparation, technique and use of materials that will leave you feeling and looking your very best. Here then is my take on the special shave.
